Can Chat GPT be detected?
ChatGPT is everywhere - but so are the tools that can detect it. Find out how to spot AI-written content, why it matters, and what you can do to make your writing sound more natural and authentic.
ChatGPT is a generative AI tool. A generative AI tool is specifically trained for doing conversations.
The main purpose is to answer queries of the users.
Think of yourself as someone who wants to cook something but doesn’t know how to do it.
There’s no one around to guide you.
What will you do? Definitely, you’ll open YouTube and watch a random person make that recipe! Hehe.
You can do the same with Free ChatGPT as well. Just ask the chatbot for the recipe you want, and it will follow your command.
Now this isn’t a cooking lesson. In fact, our topic of discussion is: “Can ChatGPT be detected?"
Before we dive into that, let’s look at where this question comes from.
About ChatGPT and the content it provides
I felt a bit relieved when I learned there aren’t actual people behind ChatGPT writing content.
I once pranked my 6-year-old niece, telling her there’s a poet sitting behind the chatbot. Just ask him to write a poem.
She believed it—and still does!
Since ChatGPT is a generative AI tool, its main job is to communicate.
It will answer whatever question you ask.
If you say, “Write me a 300-word paragraph,” the chatbot will happily do so.
But here comes the real question: Is ChatGPT a writing tool?
Is ChatGPT a writing tool?
No, ChatGPT isn’t a writing tool like an AI paragraph generator. It’s a generative AI tool, mainly built for interaction. (Yes, this is the third time I’ve said that!)
So why and how does it provide you with content?
Simple.
Because it’s trained on large language models.
In other words, engineers fed it enough content—like recipes—so it could learn from them.
Now, whenever someone asks about a topic, ChatGPT uses its knowledge and responds with useful answers.
While this works great for things like cooking, it doesn’t always work for content writing.
Cooking ≠ Content writing.
Can ChatGPT be detected?
Yes, ChatGPT can be detected. And honestly, it's easier than you think.
A content writer—or even someone familiar with good writing—can often tell when something is AI-written.
There are also many tools out there that claim to detect AI content.
But here's the truth: AI detectors aren’t always reliable. They can provide false positives or miss AI-written content altogether.
That’s why a better option is to use an AI humanizer.
These tools focus not on flagging content but on improving it, making it sound more natural and human-like.
How to detect ChatGPT writing?
For this, I first need to create content using ChatGPT.
I headed over to ChatGPT and asked for a “100-word paragraph on the digital marketing future.”
Just like a good boy, it provided me with 100 word paragraphs.
That’s it. For most people, that’s it. The end.
But, for a content writer, “that’s not it." I mean, just read all the words ChatGPT used here.
As a content writer, I’ve never used words like:
- Poised
- Profound transformation
- Digital realm
- Dynamic landscape
- Unleash
- Unravel
- Ever evolving
And as a content writer, I can read and immediately point out its authenticity.
The tool doesn’t know when to use a colon or semicolon! And many other things!
ChatGPT content is often termed “fake content”!
I will use an AI detector now to find out if it can detect AI writing percentage.
If this is what your content looks like, it's not good!
Now, let’s discuss what to do after detecting ChatGPT percentage.
Improving content written by ChatGPT
There are entire guides and articles on improving ChatGPT content. But it isn’t as easy as you think.
The problem isn’t in the words it used; the actual problem lies within its structure, startings of the sentences, and endings.
It means if you could replace those difficult words, your content will still be flagged as AI-written.
So, you either have to manually rewrite all the content or use another tool like our AI paragraph rewriter.
To do it manually, you need to have paraphrasing skills and proper command over it.
In case you’re thinking about doing it using an online tool, it should be trustworthy.
Otherwise, you’ll end up spending a lot of time doing nothing!
Improving ChatGPT content manually
Simply copy content written by ChatGPT and start humanizing sentences. You have to go a bit outside of the box to make it unique.
If you’ll try to paraphrase, it isn’t going to work. So, change the meaning of the first sentence.
Give other arguments and include personalization and real data. Try to improve writing and sentence structure.
Doing these things will make you improve your content, and it will not read like an AI-written.
Improving ChatGPT content using AI tools
For this, you have to use our AI paragraph rewriter. Previously, you had to define things you wanted to do or include, but now it only takes your input.
After that, you can select different options, writing style, preferred language if not English, and boom!
Our tool will rewrite your content in a way that it will read as human-written.
Wrapping up
ChatGPT isn’t ideally made for writing content. A lot of online tools accurately detect when you write something using ChatGPT.
Just imagine “what stops Google from detecting it.”
Google is strict when it comes to AI content, and on the other hand, the academic institutes don’t allow this either.
Besides this, you’d not want to feel ashamed in front of your colleagues for using ChatGPT for writing!
The best option is to use ChatGPT for assistance or use other tools in parallel for improving your content.
